Rumored PlayStation Portal Pro Upgrade To Feature OLED Display And 120Hz Refresh Rate

Sony is reportedly gearing up to unveil an upgraded version of its PlayStation Portal handheld, dubbed the “PlayStation Portal Pro.” This refreshed model is expected to boast cutting-edge technology, including a stunning OLED display. The current PlayStation Portal has been a real improvment, especially with Sony’s streaming update that allows users to access a growing library of top-notch titles via PS Plus, eliminating the need to stream games directly from a PS5. However, a crucial element has been missing – something that would catapult the Portal to the ranks of the best gaming handhelds.
According to gaming analyst @Zuby_Tech, the new version could be on its way, touting an OLED display and a 120Hz refresh rate. The current 8-inch LCD display on the PS Portal is excellent, but it pales in comparison to the OLED panel on other handhelds, such as the AYN Odin 2 Portal Android gaming handheld. The proposed upgrade would bring deeper, more involving black levels, giving images a more tangible look and improving color representation with minimal light bleed around pixels.
This development is unlikely to impact Sony’s other handheld plans, including the rumored release of two new consoles in the next couple of years – a dedicated handheld and a full-on Play ← →
Sony could be planning to refresh its PlayStation Portal handheld soon, with new tech ⁘ including an OLED display.
