Smart Technology Adoption Surges In American Homes
The proliferation of smart technology in American homes has reached a remarkable milestone, with over eight in ten households now embracing the convenience of connected devices. A recent OnePoll survey, which queried 5,000 American homeowners, revealed that the average expenditure on internet-enabled gadgets and appliances over the past five years has surpassed $2,000. This trend is reflected in the widespread adoption of various smart devices, including smart TVs, which are now present in 58 percent of homes, and doorbells with visitor notification capabilities, found in 35 percent of households.
Even refrigerators, those stalwart kitchen workhorses, are getting a smart makeover, with 14 percent of homeowners now owning models that alert them when supplies are running low. The survey also highlighted the popularity of other smart devices, such as smart speakers, robot vacuum cleaners, and smart locks, which are now found in 36 percent, 22 percent, and 15 percent of homes, respectively. When it comes to the features they desire in their devices, homeowners prioritize real-time alerts or notifications, battery backup or power-fail safety, and voice or app control from anywhere, with 38 percent, 36 percent, and 33 percent citing these as key benefits, respectively.
