Wing To Expand Drone Delivery To 150 More Walmart Stores In 2026

In a significant expansion of its drone delivery services, Wing, an Alphabet-owned company, is set to bring its innovative technology to 150 more Walmart stores in 2026. This development marks a substantial milestone in the company’s ambitious plan to establish a network of 270 Walmart locations with Wing drone delivery by 2027. The company’s drones will be flying above new locations in four cities: Los Angeles, St. Louis, Miami, and Cincinnati, in addition to existing sites in Atlanta, Charlotte, Houston, Orlando, and Tampa. To date, Wing has launched its services at several stores in Atlanta, as well as Walmart locations in Dallas-Fort Worth and Arkansas, with approximately 27 stores currently operational.
Wing’s drone delivery system is designed to reduce the need for polluting trucks in last-mile deliveries, with the company’s flagship drone capable of handling payloads of up to 2. 5 pounds and newer models handling up to 5 pounds. The drones use tethers and hooks to pick up small bags and lightweight cardboard boxes from designated distribution sites in Walmart parking lots, and then drop them off in customers’ front lawns.
According to Wing, its drones have completed 750,000 deliveries since its first launch in 2012.
